4 Things You Didn’t Know About Feng Shui Crystals

4 Things You Didn’t Know About Feng Shui Crystals

If you do a general search online on Feng Shui, no doubt you will come across several sites that discuss crystals. Before you run out and buy a bag of crystals, there are several things you need to know first. If you don’t, you could waste time, money, and effort on things that will not help you, and you will end up frustrated. Feng Shui is a complex set of principles and traditions; some very old, and some quite new. Crystals fall into the “new” category. If this does not bother you, then keep doing your research to get the best results. What makes Feng Shui crystals special to New Age Feng Shui practitioners is this structure. They claim it diffuses negative energy, rendering it harmless.

Crystals are not traditional Feng Shui. Traditional Feng Shui comes from ancient China and has no connection with the West. It is not a religion; rather, it uses formulas, calculations, and observations to make decisions about energy flow around people and places. “New Age” Feng Shui is highly dependent upon feelings and beliefs. It was introduced to the West by Professor Lin Yun, a Tibetan Buddhist Monk of the Black Hat order; therefore, it is sometimes referred to as “black hat.”

Feng Shui Crystals

#1. One must believe in something to make it true

Whereas the original form was an early attempt to be scientific, the newer form is a more spiritual expression. How do crystals enter into this? Crystals were not common objects in ancient China. What this means is the concept that crystals are conductors of Qi, or energy is a “New Age” or Western Feng Shui concept. Does that make it false? That is up to you to decide.

#2. What crystals are and how they work

Crystals are different from gems or minerals in how they form. A crystal, like everything else in our world, is made up of atoms, but those atoms are “built” in a special way. They have a regular, repeating pattern. Each crystal type has its pattern; that is what makes it unique. Crystals actually “grow” in a sense. Minerals and gems can be certain types of crystals.  Specific crystals, such as faceted light catchers are especially good at this task.

#3. The color and material of your crystal means something

Borrowing from traditional Feng Shui color symbolism, Western Feng Shui practitioners believe that certain colors and materials have different effects; therefore, it is important to do your research before purchasing crystals. Know what you are looking for. Is it love? Pink is your color, and rose quartz is the best material to use. It is considered to gently cleanse broken or hardened hearts and related negative energy and give off a nurturing, positive energy aimed at the heart.

While the main use is for romantic love, some experts do not stop there. Some say it is good for children who may suffer from low levels of self-love or other matters of the heart. Are you searching for a mentor or just interpersonal relationship skills? Gold is your color, and tiger’s eye is a great choice of materials. It is said to protect and nourish business and personal relationships and to offer stability. If you have a difficult time making friends or using networking skills, this is for you.

Health

Are you concerned about your health? Green is your color, and the famous jade is the best material. In reality, jade is not a crystal, but it is two types of mineral: nephrite and jadeite. Some Western practitioners also believe that jade is good for money troubles. Purple colors, such as the color found in amethysts, are good for spiritual purposes. Some suggest that you use it in your meditation room to help you focus. The deeper the shade of purple, the better. Amethysts are said to purify your personal Qi, which may be why they are helpful in meditation.

The one color that works for just about any purpose is a clear crystal such as clear quartz. They are not hemmed in by any one color, and when the light hits them just right, they can act as a prism and throw rainbow colors about the room. This may give you multiple gifts of protection and luck. For these reasons, they are a great first-time crystal to use.

#4. Crystals can do specific things for your home

A common belief is that Qi is always moving. Sometimes, it moves too fast, such as when a staircase faces out the front door of a house. The result is that the home is drained of good energy, and bad things will happen. Hanging a crystal between the stairs and the door can halt the energy flow, or at least slow it down. The same thing happens when the front and back doors align, or if there is an especially long, narrow hallway in the home.

The answer is always the same; however, for longer corridors, more than one crystal may be needed. Crystals may counter what are called “poison arrows.” Poison arrows are caused by sharp corners or objects pointed at your personal space (such as a bedroom) or personal objects (such as a bed or desk). These arrows are called poisonous because they cause spiritual (and eventually, physical) harm.

Hanging a crystal between you and the poison arrow source is said to help. If you have a home office or study area, hanging a crystal there is said to aid in focus and uncluttered thoughts. Crystals are also said to help with your love life if hung in a southwest-facing window or the southwest corner of the home.

Lastly, if you have conflicting elements in a room of your house (the kitchen is the most common), hanging a crystal is a quick fix. For example, let’s say you have a sink right next to your stove. Also, that means you have a water element fighting with a fire element, which always leads to trouble. Hanging a crystal between the two, overhead, is said by some to overcome the trouble that clashes cause.
