Enneagram Type 9 – Positive Personality Traits
As the very name of this Enneagram type 9 (Peacemaker) suggests, peace is what you desire in life. You believe your small efforts would not be able to change the world. All your basic efforts are concentrated in your search for a peaceful life and harmonious union with all. Conversely, your greatest fear lies in the separation from your loved ones. You are flexible and calm and have a great ability to listen to people.
You do not like arguments or misunderstandings of any sort and tend to avoid them as much as possible. You are a simple, happy-go-lucky person whose policy in life is to “live and let live”. Developing good and friendly relations with everybody around you seems to be the sole purpose of your life. Your good-natured and high degree of receptivity attracts others to your personality.
What others like about the Enneagram type nine is that you are an apt listener, and glad to be of service in case it is required. However, you dislike it if others try to take advantage of your generous and helpful nature. You should listen to their problems and then decide if they genuinely require your help or not. At the same time, you do like others to listen to you too.
Affection
Two things you like are flattery and affection. So your romantic partner would be well advised to give you a tight hug or a loving peck on the cheek. These things do open up your emotional side. You love to live life to the fullest and want others to share your happiness along with you.
You do like a good debate on any topic, but at the same time, hate a confrontational situation. You like people to appreciate you, and it does not hurt if others acknowledge the help that you have given them at any point in time.
Also, you like the fact that you can be non-judgmental and unbiased while making a decision, and can view situations from a third-party perspective. You can be a very good mediator in case of an argument between others.
Your peace-loving nature makes it imperative for you to intervene in such a crisis. Your caring and considerate nature makes it easier for others to like you a lot. You go along with the crowd, and everybody likes you in general.
As a parent, the Enneagram type 9 personality is warm and caring towards your children. However, due to your nature, your children may perceive you as soft, and disregard your directives at home and outside. This will often pose a serious disciplinary problem.
Enneagram Type 9 – Negative Personality Traits
The Enneagram type 9 people need to let people know their true feelings. Do not let others make decisions for you all the time. However, you are a little slow, and need some thinking time, before being able to make any important decision. At times, however, your partner may regard you as weak and indecisive, without any kind of opinion of your own.
At the same time, you cannot digest criticism easily, and this makes it all the more painful to you. Since you do not have any hard-n-fast opinion of your own, others may disregard you or give you little importance in a crisis. However, although you resent this fact, your intrinsically peace-loving nature makes you suppress your pent-up anger. You can thus, never become a good leader of men.
