American writer and blogger Julie Powell was born in Austin, Texas on the 20 April 1973.

Education

She is a graduate of Amherst College, Massachusetts (1995) and holds a BA degree in drama and writing.

Rise To Fame

Powell rose to prominence with her blog The Julie/Julia Project (2002). She started writing the blog, which focused on her cooking dishes from American chef Julia Child’s book, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, setting herself a target of working through a recipe a day for 365 days.

Career

The success of her blog led Julie Powell to write a memoir based on the blog, and this was subsequently made into a film, Julie & Julia. Powell continues to write, and other projects include a book on butchering, Cleaving.
