American actress Taraji Henson was born on the 11 September 1970 in Washington, D.C. 

Education

Taraji Henson graduated from Oxon Hill High School in Maryland (1988). After initially studying engineering, she enrolled at Howard University and studied drama (1995).

After graduation, Taraji Henson appeared in some television shows before making a name for herself in Baby Boy.

Career

Taraji Henson has appeared in both films and on television. Films include Shug in Hustle & Flow (2005), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), The Family That Preys (2008), I Can Do Bad All By Myself (2009), Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story (2011), Think Like A Man (2012), Hidden Figures (2016).

Various television shows she has appeared in include Smart Guy (1997-1998), CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2006), Sister, Sister; The Division, Boston Legal, Eli Stone (2008-2011), Person of Interest (2011), The Crossing (2013) and Empire (2013-2016)

Awards And Achievements

Taraji Henson won the Austin Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008). And in 2016 she won a Golden Globe: Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series for Empire (2015). She has won the BET Best Actress award for three consecutive years from 2015 through to 2017. She also won the BET Best Actress award in 2006, 2009 and 2011. She has won numerous other nominations and awards.

Personal Life

Taraji Henson has a son Marcel Johnson (b.2005).

Her autobiography Around the Way Girl - A Memoir was published in 2016.
