After graduating from Harvard University in 1882, George Lyman Kittredge took up a position teaching Latin at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire where he remained until 1888.
Career
In 1888, George Lyman Kittredge joined the teaching staff at Harvard University and remained there for the rest of his career. Between 1917 and his retirement in 1936, Kittredge was the Gurney Professor of English at Harvard University.
