Kim Novak is a former American actress born on February 13th, 1933. Currently, she is a visual artist. Her premier screen appearance was in the film The French Line. She also featured in 1954 The Pushover. In the 1950s, she was one of the most sought actresses. Her other films include 1955 The Man with the Golden Arm, the 1958 film Vertigo and 1980 The Mirror Crack'd.

Early Life

Kim Novak was born on February 13th, 1933. Her place of birth was in Chicago, Illinois in the United States. She is a daughter of Czech descendant parents, Joseph and Blanche. Joseph was a teacher by profession. On the other hand, her mother worked in a factory.

Education

Kim Novak began her educational journey at William Penn Elementary. After that, she joined Farragut High School.  She also attended Wright Junior College. After her college studies, she was admitted to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago after receiving two scholarships. During this time she had an opportunity to model for a refrigerator company tour at trade shows.

Career

The refrigerator company crowned Novak “Miss Deepfreeze" at Los Angeles during their tour. She caught the attention of an agent who proposed to her to join Columbia Pictures for a long-term contract.

Her debut role at Columbia Pictures was in the 1954 film Pushover. In the same year, she also co-starred in Phffft acting as Janis. The two films were quite successful, making Novak more famous as an actress.

In 1955, Kim Novak featured in the film 5 Against the House. In this year she also performed a role in picnic. This film earned her Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer. She was also among the BAFTA Film Award for Best Foreign Actress nominees though she did not emerge as the winner

In 1956, she appeared in What's My Line? Show as a mystery guest. She was also cast as the ex-girlfriend of Frank Sinatra in her 1955 The Man with the Golden Arm. In 1956 she was cast as Marjorie Oelrichs in The Eddy Duchin Story.

She starred in Middle of the Night (1959). Later in 1960, she starred in Strangers When We Meet along with Kirk Douglas. Two years later she acted in The Notorious Landlady. In 1965 she appeared in The Amorous Adventures of Moll Flanders.

In 1968, Kim Novak featured in The Legend of Lylah Clare directed by Robert Aldrich.  Her last film in the 1960s was The Great Bank Robbery in 1969. She then went on a vacation of nearly four years. Upon her return, she acted in Tales That Witness Madness in 1973.

In the same year, she featured in The Third Girl From the Left as Gloria Joyce. Later in 1977, she acted a brief role in The White Buffalo. Subsequently, in 1979, she was cast opposite David Bowie in Just a Gigolo. She starred in some films before retiring in 1992.

Personal Life

In 1966, Kim Novak wedded Johnson only to divorce him the following year.  However, they remained good buddies.  Later in 1976, she tied the knot with Dr. Robert Malloy, her current husband.
