Robert II of Scotland was born on March 2, 1316. He was the King of Scotland from 1371 to 1390. He was the first king from the House of Stewart. He succeeded David II. While he was living, he was known as Robert the Steward. In 1371, he was crowned as king. He died on April 19, 1390.

Robert II of Scotland was born in March 2, 1316 in Paisley Abbey in Renfrewshire. He was born to Walter Stewart and Marjorie Bruce. His mother died after he was born due to childbirth complications. He lost his father in 1326. His father was buried in Paisley Abbey.
Reign and Death
Robert II of Scotland began his reign on February 22, 1371. He was next in line after the death of his uncle, David II of Scotland. He descended the crown through Robert the Bruce. He was crowned on February 26, 1371. He was not a popular king to many. Robert II of Scotland died on April 19, 1390, and was succeeded by his son Robert III of Scotland.
Marriage
Robert II of Scotland married two wives. He first married Elizabeth Mure and then his second wife, Euphemia de Ross. He had fifteen children from his marriages. He holds the record of having more children than any King of Scotland who has ever lived. By his wife Elizabeth he had the following children: John, Earl of Carrick, Margaret Stewart, Alexander, Earl of Buchan ‘The Wolf of Badenoch’, Walter Stewart, Robert, Earl of Albany, Marjorie Stewart, Jean Stewart, Isabel Stewart, Katharine Stewart, and Elizabeth Stewart.
By Euphemia he had the following children; Walter Stewart, Earl of Atholl, Margaret Stewart, David, Earl of Caithness, Egidia Stewart and Elizabeth Stewart. Robert II of Scotland also has eight illegitimate children by different mothers.
